These look like they could be on a poster for a movie about a rag-tag team of young ladies incensed that they can’t deliver papers alongside the chaps. First Wave YA Feminism is the hot new Disney plot.
Abigail Breslin as the Sage and Plucky Narrator, who is recounting this story on the eve of winning a journalism prize in her later years. She is the daughter of a single father, who is trying to start his own independent press. He’s a loveable kook who would be a talked-about episode of ‘HOARDERS’ in this day. That is why she has long hair and jam on her muslin. No female loves her.
Catchphrase: “We’re not selling papers, we’re distributing the TRUTH!”
Chloe Moretz as a Hearst-like Heir to the paper’s fortune, but yet she can’t sell her father’s own paper on a streetcorner like her big brother could if he wasn’t busy falling in love with Abigail Breslin and saving her from poverty/being rich.
Catchphrase: “I didn’t sign up for ink stains on dresses!”
Hailee Steinfeld as the Ambiguously Ethnic Mouthpiece of the operation, unafraid to just tell it like it is, and is the only one who needs the job/money because her family lives in a tenement but a cheerful one, with calico curtains and no drunks.
Catchphrase: “We can read, too! And we want to read!”
Georgie Henley as The Lesbian. Ready to punch someone in the face, play Kick the Can and hide her hair in a cap. She was already taking the bull by the horns and hawking papers, disguised as a boy, but that all came crashing down due to boobs. In the last five minutes, she randomly falls in love with a young man, but for the whole of the movie, you think she might snag a piece of the Ambiguously Ethnic Mouthpiece.
Catchphrase: “Yeah, so what? Boys do it. But we do it RIGHT!”

 FUND IT

HOLY FUCK YES.
